Spring is here. For many, the end of winter and the beginning of spring brings a sense of renewal, but rising temperatures mean more than baseball games and backyard barbecues. It means more roach activity and more pressure on busy pest management professionals (PMPs) to control them effectively.

Tools that combine quick knockdown with long-lasting residual control, like Suspend® Contact & Residual Aerosol, can help PMPs reach hidden cockroach populations and reduce the risk of them rebounding.

Rising temperatures. Rising activity.

Cockroaches are cold-blooded insects. That means as temperatures drop over the winter, so does their metabolic rate — and their activity. As temperatures begin to rise, their metabolic rate rises with it and they become more active, leaving the dark cracks and crevices in search of food and water. They begin to breed, feed and lay eggs at a higher rate. And, without proper management, their population can quickly spiral out of control.

Roach reproduction

German cockroaches reproduce rapidly. One female German cockroach can lay up to 400 eggs in her short lifetime. In ideal environmental conditions, a nymph can become an adult roach in 40 days. This short life cycle, paired with their rapid reproduction, makes cockroaches incredibly prolific. Unfortunately for PMPs, while she is carrying her egg casings, the female is less active, spending more time hiding in hard-to-reach cracks and crevices. Additionally, many insecticides cannot penetrate her egg casings. This means an egg-carrying female can be hard to control — and her eggs may hatch after treatment. That’s why, to help prevent populations from rebounding after treatment, it’s important to effectively control cracks and crevices.

Elevate your aerosol

When every crack in the wall could be a crack in your defense, it’s important to have an aerosol that can help you manage roaches deep in crevices. Suspend® Contact & Residual Aerosol can help — it is the only deltamethrin aerosol that also has the fast action of pyrethrin. This dual-action formula means Suspend® Contact & Residual Aerosol combines quick knockdown power with long-lasting residual control.

Here’s what that looks like:

  • Long-lasting residual: Protects against German and American cockroaches and Argentine ants for up to 18 months.*
  • Quick knockdown: Fast-acting with immediate results — mortality in just 30 seconds.

This unique combination makes Suspend® Contact & Residual Aerosol an important tool in your pest control arsenal.

The power of two products in one

The dual-action formula of Suspend® Contact & Residual Aerosol helps PMPs more effectively manage cracks and crevices. Because of the active ingredient pyrethrin, Suspend® Contact & Residual Aerosol can be used as a flushing agent during inspection — helping detect harborages and quickly knock down exposed roaches. But it’s the active ingredient deltamethrin that helps PMPs keep the population from rebounding. By leaving behind a long-lasting layer of residual control, PMPs can protect against roaches that evaded, or hatched after, the initial treatment.

Reducing gaps in your defense

To control a pest that reproduces as rapidly as the German cockroach, it’s imperative to effectively manage the cracks and crevices where they hide, rest and reproduce. By combining fast-acting knockdown power with long-lasting residual control, Suspend® Contact & Residual Aerosol can help reduce gaps in defense to more effectively control rising roach activity this spring.
